Running Injuries
Running injuries are sign of bad luck in running event but the most likely happening in running events. Human body works as a gear of machine with repetitive motion while running so gears get tired or exhausted by two and fro motion similarly body parts have the same motion with many adjacent parts and can have maximum chances to get injured while running. There are two major factors of runner injuries intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic factors are those which are caused by the body physique of a runner, every runner has different body physique and its internal system resistance to injuries while others have low resistance to injuries. So body physique play a vital role in preventing injuries that’s why runners should do taught training to increase their stamina and muscle training is also essential to build their internal system more powerful and strong to minimize injuries risks.
Extrinsic factors include all those causes excluding the body physique. The external factors are like shoes, proper apparel, tack, training, ignorance from rules, diet or any other drugs or steroids etc. There are many types of common running injuries such as ankle injury from running, head injury from running, knee injury from running and so on
These body parts have to bear maximum shock or jerks and give very fast motion to it-self in order to change their position as well as to the adjacent the parts whose motion only depend on these body parts. These adjacent parts are mainly joints such as arm, wrist, elbow, shoulders etc. Knee is that part of the foot that has more chances of injuries as compared to the other parts of body because running mostly depends on knee. It is joined with other parts of leg as foot, toes, ankle and leg and so on. Common knee injuries include:
1. Patellofemoral syndrome: which is commonly seen in knee injury runners their injury occur in knee cap or patella
2. Pilca syndrome: refers to the irritation of knee lining, some runners have more curvy nature of knee due to rubbing with the shoes knee get swelled and cause pain.
3. Dislocating kneecap: it is caused by the abrupt change in the position of knee cap from its original position causes severe pain in knee and the original position of knee cap is restored by suitable exercises or physio therapy treatment.
Other common knee injuries include Anterior Cruciate Ligament Sprain, Jumper's Knee, shoulder injury from running, Osgood Sclatters Disease, running foot injuries Housemaids Knee Articular Cartilage Injury etc. Injuries not only happen while running in race but many injuries can happen in practice session if care is not taken while using training equipments. So knee injury while running on treadmill is very common specially young and amateur runners don’t use equipments with care and they also have lack of knowledge about the correct and proper use of equipments. So, one should have sound knowledge about equipment use while training. Similarly while weight training running injuries and weight gain are the most common problems that many runners have to face. Lower back injury running are the other commonly seen problems with the runners. These injuries include:
1. Piriformis Syndrome
2. Sacroiliac Joint Pain
3. Facet Joint Pain
4. Sciatica
5. Muscle Strains
6. Lumbago
7. Scoliosis
8. Lordosis
There are many treatment methods to prevent running injury many types of equipment are there for the treatment of knee injury running problems, lower back injuries and leg injuries. Runners are taught many remedies and solutions of dealing with injuries and problems like that while running and training. They are taught with many cases of danger that how to deal and act while getting an injury. They are also suggested to choose specialized type of apparel such as knee injury running shoes that is most safe and give excellent protection against injuries and accidents.
